Man Convicted In Stepdaughter's Killing Outside San Leandro Chili's: Report

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A man with a history of domestic abuse was convicted in the killing of his stepdaughter, whom he shot outside a San Leandro Chili's in 2023, according to an East Bay Times report.

Samuel Langworthy, 51, was convicted of second-degree murder with a gun enhancement, unlawful firearm activity and assault with a firearm; charges that stemmed from the fatal shooting of his 24-year-old stepdaughter, Dorcas-Cothy Kabasele, on Nov. 11, 2023, according to the report.

Langworthy had a history of abusing and attacking family members, including two months before killing Kabasale, according to the report.

Around that time, Langworthy punched his estranged wife's daughter during an argument in San Ramon, according to the report.

The 51-year-old received misdemeanor probation for the punch, which was still active when he shot and killed Kabasale, according to the report.

Langworthy faces 40 years to life in prison during sentencing in October, according to the report.
