
A man died Sunday night when he was hit by a train in Hayward, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.
The collision occurred at about 10 p.m. on the railroad tracks near Newhall Street and Huntwood Avenue.
Train No. 748 from San Jose to Sacramento had 19 passengers on board and none of the passengers or crew were hurt, Amtrak spokesman Mike Tolbert said.

Why the man was on the tracks is still under investigation, Tolbert said.
The train was back underway at 12:11 a.m.
