Michelle Gaskill-Hames Named Senior Vice President and Area Manager for Kaiser Permanente in Southern Alameda County

Kaiser Permanente has announced the appointment of Michelle Gaskill-Hames as senior vice president and area manager for southern Alameda County, overseeing the third largest Kaiser Permanente service area in the Northern California Region, an area with 330,000 members across two medical centers in Fremont and San Leandro and medical facilities in Hayward and Union City.

She will be responsible for the medical centers in Fremont and San Leandro as well as health plan services, hospital operations, and services provided to members outside of the hospital setting including continuing care, pharmacy, and health plan regulatory services.

Gaskill-Hames was previously the senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente’s Redwood City service area, delivering exceptional outcomes and experiences for Kaiser Permanente’s members and patients. In addition, she helped lead Redwood City as one of two Regional Innovation Sites that evaluate new operating processes and practices, developing better ways to serve members and patients.

Gaskill-Hames succeeds Tom Hanenburg, who was promoted in 2016 to senior vice president of hospital and health plan operations for Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California region.

Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Ms. Gaskill-Hames was president of Trinity Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, where she was responsible for the strategic direction and operational execution of quality, safety, and patient care services.

She holds a Master of Health Services Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan. She also holds a Project Management Certification from Harvard School of Public Health.
