New San Leandro Library Tech Corner Helps Kids Explore STEM

"The Technology Corner allows school‑age kids to explore STEM-focused resources designed to inspire curiosity," library officials said.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A new technology corner at the San Leandro Public Library is bringing more exciting ways for families to explore the third space.

The amenity is located in the Children's Library section and features vibrant artwork, kid-friendly furniture, technology learning toys, robots and tools to teach them to code, library officials said.

The Technology Corner was made possible thanks to a "generous" donation from the Donna Reed Foundation, library officials said.

"We are deeply grateful to the Donna Reed Foundation for supporting innovative learning experiences for children in San Leandro," Library Director Brian Simons said in a statement earlier this month. "While the Children’s Library already offers a lively play area for ages 0–5, school‑age children currently have fewer options for interactive, play‑based learning."

The technology corner allows kids to explore the STEM field through new resources designed to spark their curiosity and cultivate foundational skills in several areas, officials said.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is expected to be announced for a later date. In the meantime, families are encouraged to explore the new space, officials said.
