Oakland Zoo Leads Eco-Tour Of East Africa

The first stop of the expedition is a chimpanzee sanctuary in Uganda. Other conservation partners are on the itinerary.

OAKLAND, CA — The Oakland Zoo's Conservation Department is a long way from home. Members of the team are leading an eco-tour of East Africa. They will visit Budongo Conservation Field Station, New Nature Foundation, and Uganda Carnivore Program, all conservation partners of the zoo.

First stop on the itinerary: Entebbe, Uganda, where they visited the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

The sanctuary cares for more than 50 rescued and orphaned chimps.
