Officials ID Teen Boy Struck, Killed by Driver Fleeing Deputies in San Leandro
The driver fled after hitting Ivan Cruz, 14, and remains at large today.

A 14-year-old boy struck and killed by a suspect fleeing Alameda County sheriff’s deputies east of San Leandro Tuesday evening was identified today as San Leandro resident Ivan Cruz, according to the coroner’s bureau.
The deputies attempted to pull over a reckless driver just before 6 p.m. and while pursuing it, the driver hit Ivan near the corner of East 14th Street and Ashland Avenue at about 6 p.m., sheriff’s officials said.
