One Injured In San Leandro Apartment Fire

Fire investigators blame the blaze on unattended candles. (Breaking)

SAN LEANDRO, CA — One person suffered burns and smoke inhalation in a San Leandro apartment fire just after midnight Wednesday morning. Five people were displaced from 5 different apartments. They received help from the Red Cross.

The fire was reported at 12:08 a.m. when occupants of the apartment building went to an Alameda COunty Fire Department fire station just a block away to notify firefighters. The one alarm fire on 143rd Avenue was confined to one apartment.

The injured person has burns to a hand and the smoke inhalation is considered mild, according to the fire department. Firefighters determined that unattended candles left burning in the 2nd story apartment caused the fire.
