Open Call for 'San Leandro's Got Talent'
The city is also seeking celebrity guest judges.

The City of San Leandro announced that it is seeking teen performers who can sing and dance, as well as adults who would like to be judges for the upcoming citywide teen talent show, San Leandro’s Got Talent! San Leandro and Bay Area residents who are energetic, positive, or talented are encouraged to apply to participate in this year’s show as celebrity guest judges. Previous judges have included radio DJs, authors, teachers, and City Council members. Those interested in participating are encouraged to complete an application and return it to the San Leandro Main Library in person or by mail (Attn. Loryn Aman, 300 Estudillo Avenue, San Leandro CA 94577) or by fax (510-577-3987) by Saturday, December 20, 2014. Application materials are available online through the program website or for pick-up at the San Leandro Main Library, located at 300 Estudillo Avenue.
Teens living in San Leandro with a special talent are encouraged to audition for San Leandro’s Got Talent.Performer applications also are now available online on the program website or for pick-up at the Main Library. Audition details and qualifications are provided in the application. Auditions will take place on Monday, January 12 at the Main Library, and Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Marina Community Center.
This year’s San Leandro’s Got Talent will take place at the San Leandro Senior Center on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 7:00-10:00 pm. Tickets for the general public will go on sale on Monday, January 5, 2015 at noon. Tickets may be purchased at the San Leandro Main Library (300 Estudillo Avenue) or the Marina Community Center (15301 Wicks Boulevard). Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for youth, 17 and under.

San Leandro’s Got Talent is a collaboration of the San Leandro Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group (TAG) and the Youth Advisory Commission (YAC). TAG and YAC are joining together to offer this fun event for the community while raising money for teen programs. Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will be used for teen programs at the library as well as YAC’s mini-grant program for youth-serving organizations.

The Teen Advisory Group consists of teens in 8th through 12th grades. TAG’s goal is to help create teen programs at the San Leandro Public Library, suggest teen books, and raise library awareness in schools and the community. TAG meets each month at the Main Library.
About the Youth Advisory Commission
The Youth Advisory Commission consists of high school students who live or attend school in San Leandro. YAC is an advisory body to the City Council regarding youth and teen issues. YAC’s goals are to interact with other public and private agencies on youth-related policies and programs, create and recommend projects and events for the San Leandro youth community, and learn about the role, services, and programs of local government.
