UPDATE: Suspect Charged in April Killing of Two San Leandro Men

Bay City News—Oakland police said Thursday that a 22-year-old Oakland man has been charged with two counts of murder for the at a restaurant near Jack London Square in April.

Police said Clem Thompkins was arrested in Richmond on Wednesday. Thompkins is expected to be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court on Friday.

Alameda County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Teresa Drenick said that although Thompkins has been charged, the case will not be officially filed in court until Friday. She declined to comment on the case until it is filed.

Killed in the shooting were 22-year-old Adam Williams of San Leandro, and 27-year-old Williams Jenkins, who also lived in San Leandro, although some earlier news stories said that he was an Oakland resident. The shootings happened at Sweet Jimmie's, 311 Broadway, at 12:42 a.m. on April 25.  

Police said they don't believe the two men were the intended targets of the shooting.

Four other people were wounded in the shooting but survived. Thompkins is also expected to be charged with multiple counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting those four people, authorities said.
