Police Identify Man Killed in Ashland Shooting

Darrell Bradford, 26, from unincorporated San Leandro, was shot and killed on Tuesday night.

Bay City News—The Alameda County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim in a shooting Tuesday night in Ashland as 26-year-old Darrell Bradford. 

Bradford, a resident of an unincorporated portion of San Leandro, died of multiple gunshot wounds. 

The shooting happened at about 7:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Ashland Village Apartments at East 14th Street and Kentwood Lane. A Hayward police officer who happened to be in a nearby apartment on unrelated business heard the shots, stepped outside and saw people running in different directions, sheriff department spokesperson Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.

Deputies responded and found Bradford suffering from multiple gunshot
wounds, Nelson said. He was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, where he died.

Police searched the neighborhood but didn't locate the shooter, and no arrests have been made in the case.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
