San Leandro Business Briefs

A new bakery opens; a downtown chiropractic office moves out; the city hosts an export-import forum; and more business news.

On Monday, the display case at Angelina's Pastries was full  of sinful-looking cakes, cupcakes, cookies and pan dulce, or Mexican sweet bread. But owner Carlos Gutierrez said they were nearly cleaned out in the days before Mother's Day. "We did pretty good," he said of pre-holiday business.

Angelina's is hoping to draw a breakfast crowd with an early opening, 5:30 a.m., from Monday through Friday. The shop has drip coffee, and an espresso machine is on the way, Gutierrez said.

He plans to open at 9 a.m. on the weekends and will stay open until 7 p.m. throughout the week for those looking to pick up dessert for the night, or pan dulce for the next morning. There are a few small tables inside and several on the sidewalk.
