San Leandro Councilwoman Prods Congress On Local Funding

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A coalition of local elected officials including San Leandro City Council Member Corina Lopez and representatives from the National League of Cities traveled to Washington, D.C. recently to meet with members of Congress and committee staff to make the case for prioritizing enhanced federal investment in local infrastructure.

The nation currently has a $2 trillion investment gap. Needs include transportation, roads, bridges, water and broadband.

City leaders participated in a range of advocacy events including a panel discussion on developing a skilled workforce that can design, build and maintain the complex systems in America's infrastructure.

Lopez currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Information Technology and Communications Federal Advocacy Committee with National League of Cities, and the trip was funded by the League based on her leadership role in the organization.
