San Leandro Floods Streets With Police In Traffic Crackdown

SAN LEANDRO, CA — The San Leandro Police Department has formed a High Intensity Traffic Team consisting of officers, sergeants and professional staff from San Leandro, the Hayward Police Department, Newark Police Department, Fremont Police Department, and California Highway Patrol.

The team is patrolling San Leandro Wednesday looking for speeding vehicles, seatbelt violations, distracted drivers on their cell phones, and any other dangerous driving habits which could cause a crash.

According to San Leandro Police, "The goal of this operation is to deter dangerous driving, while educating the public, and enforcing the laws which commonly result in injury crashes or fatal collisions."
