San Leandro Man Charged In Major Fencing Operation

Police officers recovered at least $300,000 in stolen power tools, police and prosecutors said.

OAKLAND, CA — A San Leandro man has been charged in connection with a major fencing operation in which officers recovered at least $300,000 in stolen power tools, police and prosecutors said.

Wullian Cordova-Cubias, 31, is charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of more than 250 stolen power tools.

Cordova-Cubias, who is now free on $70,000 bail, was carrying a gun when officers arrested him at his home in San Leandro on Tuesday, according to police.

His arrest resulted from a month-long investigation by the Oakland police burglary section.

Sgt. Mike Valle said in a video posted on the Oakland Police Department's Facebook page that Cordova-Cubias bought expensive power tools that were stolen during vehicle and construction site burglaries in Oakland and other Bay Area locations.

Valle said some of the stolen tools were sold at local flea markets in Oakland and San Jose.

Valle said investigators are looking to identify victims in Oakland and neighboring cities so that the recovered tools can be returned to the rightful owners.
