San Leandro Man Sentenced To Federal Prison
Donta Lashaun Perry had an AR-15 rifle and handgun when arrested by the California Highway Patrol. He posted bail and fled to Oklahoma.
SAN LEANDRO, CA — A San Leandro man was sentenced to 60 months and a day in prison after he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing firearms in connection with drug trafficking, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Donta Lashaun Perry, 31, was handed the sentence in U.S. District Court on Tuesday, prosecutors said. He had pleaded guilty on Oct. 1.
He was originally arrested on March 7, 2018, by the California Highway Patrol and admitted in his plea agreement that he had marijuana and had a handgun and AR-15 rifle to defend the drugs from a potential theft.

Perry posted bail, but jumped bail for around 10 months before being arrested in Oklahoma in March 2019.
After his sentence, Perry will need to serve three years of supervised release and pay a $200 fine, prosecutors said.
