SAN LEANDRO, CA — If you're a minimum wage earner in San Leandro, you've about to get a raise.
The minimum wage will increase to $13 per hour, effective July 1,in San Leandro, a one dollar hike over the current wage.
In 2016, the San Leandro City Council adopted an ordinance that accelerates local implementation of the State of California's minimum wage laws. The implementation schedule of local hourly minimum wage requirements is as follows:
Minimum Wage Effective Date
$12/hour July 1, 2017
$13/hour July 1, 2018
$14/hour July 1, 2019
$15/hour July 1, 2020
If an employee believes they are being underpaid, they should notify the City's Finance Department. Employees who assert their rights to receive the city's minimum wage are protected from retaliation, according to the ordinance that guarantees the increase. Workers may also file a civil lawsuit against workers who ignore the minimum wage.
