San Leandro Police Arrest 2, Seize Catalytic Converters

Police found 18 catalytic converters cut from vehicles.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Two men in their 30s were arrested last weekend in San Leandro after police caught them trying to steal a catalytic converters, police said Thursday.

Officers responded at 4:40 a.m. Sunday to the theft in a truck lot in the 600 block of McCormick Street.

When officers arrived, they heard someone using a cutting tool and they surrounded the lot, which had several trucks in it, according to police.

Officers saw two people in the lot, and both started running. Police caught both men and located 18 catalytic converters cut from utility trucks, along with burglary tools, police said.
