SAN LEANDRO, CA — Police in San Leandro are increasing high-visibility patrols and conducting crime suppression operations in an effort to curb a recent trend in armed robberies in the East Bay city.
On Thursday, police investigated two armed robberies, both of which occurred in the early evening hours. The suspects in both robberies either told their victims that they had a firearm or they displayed a firearm. The victims, all in their teens, appeared to be randomly targeted for their backpacks, cell phones and wallets.
Another robbery attempt occurred earlier in the week, in which the victim had just completed a transaction at a bank. The suspects followed the victim away from the bank before attempting the robbery.
