San Leandro School Board President Dies

SAN LEANDRO, CA — The president of the San Leandro Unified School District's Board of Education has passed away, school district officials said Monday.
Vince Rosato was first elected as a trustee to the Board of Education in 2012. He also served as the treasurer of the Alameda County School Boards Association, according to school district officials.
"Vince cared about making a difference in public school and that showed through his work both here in San Leandro, in Alameda County and across the state," Superintendent Dr. Mike McLaughlin said in a statement.

"This is a huge loss for our school district and we send our heartfelt condolences to his widow."
Rosato worked as a longtime teacher in the New Haven Unified School District, where he also served as a California Teachers Association state and national delegate, according to school district officials.

This evening's Board of Education regular meeting will be adjourned in memory of Rosato, school district officials said.
