San Leandro Storage Locker Raid: 1.7 Tons Of Fireworks

The illegal fireworks were worth $50,000. The bomb squad had to remove the fireworks.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A male suspect has been arrested on suspicion of various illegal fireworks offenses after authorities found an estimated $50,000 worth of fireworks in a San Leandro storage locker, Oakland police said Wednesday.

Officers who responded to a report that a man was selling illegal fireworks throughout Oakland identified the suspect and located a storage unit in San Leandro where he stored them, according to police.

The $50,000 worth of fireworks weighed in at 1.7 tons.

The Alameda County sheriff's bomb squad responded to the storage unit and safely removed the fireworks, police said.

The case against the suspect will be presented to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office for review and possible charging.
