
SAN LEANDRO, CA —One person was injured in a shooting on southbound Interstate Highway 880 in San Leandro early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers got a call at about 2:30 a.m. about a road rage incident on southbound Highway 880 near Lewelling Boulevard, then shortly afterward received another call about shots being fired, CHP Officer Joseph Fowler
said.
Officers responded and found a vehicle on the highway with four people inside, one of whom had been shot in the head.

The person was taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries, Fowler said. An update on the victim's condition has not been released.
The CHP reports that the suspect vehicle was a white sedan. They are appealing to the public for information to help solve this case.

The investigation into the shooting prompted the closure of all lanes of southbound Highway 880. They reopened just before 9 a.m.
Big-rigs were being allowed to use Interstate Highway 580 for the duration of the closure, according to the CHP.
