Stepping Stones and Davis Street Reception

Davis Street was excited to host a reception in honor of the joining of Stepping Stones and Davis Street Community Center!

Davis Street was excited to host a reception in honor of the joining of Stepping Stones and Davis Street Community Center, last Wednesday, September 14! Around 75 guests attended this event that was held at 3081 Teagarden Street in San Leandro.

Among the attendees were Assemblymember Rob Bonta representative, San Leandro City Councilmember, Jim Prola, Alameda County and San Leandro Board of Education representatives, Kaiser Permanente, Davis Street staff members and Board of Directors, Stepping Stones staff members and Board of Directors, and Stepping Stones clients who showcased their artwork during the reception.

On May 31, 2016, the Davis Street Community Center, Inc. and Stepping Stones Growth Center, both longtime San Leandro nonprofit service providers, officially merged. The joining will allow both organizations to provide a broader range of services to clients and their families. This merge reflects the collaborative spirit of Davis Street and its commitment to serving the community. Davis Street’s Primary Care Clinic provides medical, dental and behavioral health services; 5 childcare centers; food pantry; clothing program; utility and housing assistance; holiday programs and now programs and services for people living with developmental disabilities. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Davis Street, Stepping Stones Growth Center will remain at its current location on MacArthur Boulevard and maintain its own 501(c) (3) status.

Stepping Stones Growth Center is a not for profit social services agency founded in 1975 by concerned parents of children with special needs. They provide a continuum of programs and services to more than 400 adults and children with a developmental disability. Stepping Stones is funded by the Regional Center of the East Bay, the Department of Rehabilitation, private donations, and grants from a number of foundations and corporations.

Serving more than 15,000 individuals annually, Davis Street helps low-income families of the Eden area and surrounding communities to improve their quality of life through short and long-term assistance.
