Suspect Arrested in San Leandro Murder; Victim Identified

One person will killed and a second injured early Saturday morning.

SAN LEANDRO, CA - A man who was fatally shot outside a bar in unincorporated San Leandro early Saturday morning was identified by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency today as 43-year-old Sukia Jackson, who worked as a bus
driver for the agency.

Alameda County sheriff's deputies arrested a suspect who allegedly shot Jackson and another man outside of a bar at 150th Avenue and Robin Street at about 2 a.m. Saturday, according to Alameda County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Ray Kelly.

Officers who responded to the shooting found Jackson lying on the sidewalk outside the bar, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, Kelly said.

Deputies also learned that another man had just been shot about a block away, near 150th Avenue and East 14th Street.

When deputies arrived at that scene, they found the suspect standing over the victim, covered in blood and holding a gun.

Deputies were able to detain the suspect and recover the gun, Kelly said.

Deputies determined the same suspect shot both victims. The shooting occurred after the suspect allegedly approached a group standing outside the bar and, for an unknown reason, got into a verbal confrontation with them, Kelly said.

The suspect shot Jackson and when the crowd dispersed, the suspect chased after the second victim and shot him.

Jackson and the second victim were both taken to a hospital and Jackson was pronounced dead a short time
later. The second victim remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect's name hasn't yet been released.
