The teens tried to carjack the driver at gunpoint, police said.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Two teens have been arrested in connection with a botched robbery in San Leandro in February, police said.

The two teens "accosted" a food delivery driver on the night of Feb. 13, in the 14700 block of Pepperdine Street and held him at gunpoint, according to the San Leandro Police Department.

One teen took the delivery driver's phone while the other tried driving off in the car, police said.

The teen, however, was unable to get the car to drive because the victim still had the key fob, police said, adding that the suspects fled the scene in their own car.

Using public safety cameras, detectives developed leads on the vehicle the teens were driving and eventually identified them, police said.

Angel Ureno-Vega, 18, of Hayward, was taken into custody on suspicion of robbery on Feb. 24 at his job in San Leandro, police said.

Detectives found a gun that matched the one used during the robbery while executing a warrant in the 18-year-old's car, police said.

Officers were then able to use evidence in Ureno-Vega's phone to track down the second suspect, identified by police as 19-year-old Alexis Cisneros-Robles of Hayward.

Detectives tracked Cisneros-Robles down in Castro Valley on Thursday and took him into custody on suspicion of armed robbery, authorities said.

"This case not only highlights the tenacity of our investigators but also demonstrates the efficacy of technology available to help solve cases," The San Leandro Police Department said.
