258 Tickets Issued During 4 Hours In San Leandro Traffic Crackdown
Several agencies joined in the High-Intensity Traffic Team effort.
SAN LEANDRO, CA —The San Leandro Police Department and several nearby law enforcement agencies joined forces to crack-down on bad drivers on Wednesday.
The tickets were divided into the following categories:
- 88 for miscellaneous infractions
- 79 for speeding
- 48 for stop sign violations
- 39 for cell phone violations
- 3 for unlicensed drivers (vehicles towed)
- 1 for driving with a suspended license (vehicle towed)
"The goal of this operation is to deter dangerous driving, while educating the public, and enforcing the laws which commonly result in injury crashes or fatal collisions," San Leandro Police said in an online post.

The other agencies involved in this High-Intensity Traffic Team (H.I.T.T.) include the Hayward Police Department, Union City Police Department, CHP - Hayward and Castro Valley offices, Newark Police Department, and Alameda Police Department.
