Vegetation Fire In San Leandro Caused By Car Fire

The flames put up a smokescreen along Interstate Highway 880.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Did you see the smoke in San Leandro on Monday?

A car fire on northbound I-880 spread to the vegetation on at side of the road. Alameda County firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but the smoke caused slowing on the freeway.

The westbound Marina exit had to be closed for a time.
