Video: Developer Has New Tenant For Village Marketplace

David Irmer says he expects to have a written deal by February 1 to replace Fresh & Easy, whose lease termination cast a cloud over the downtown project.

 

Patch interviewed developer David Irmer at the Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner Thursday night to ask about the Village Marketplace project that was derailed when the Fresh & Easy grocery chain terminated its lease.

Irmer said he has a handshake deal with an unnamed anchor tenant that has agreed to accept the general design for the site. That is important because his deal with the city -- allowing him to get the land for $4 million less than the city paid to acquire it -- comes with caveats and conditions.

In this video Irmer says he expects to have a signed agreement, putting the handshake deal into writing, by February 1.
