Volleyball Meet-Up At Marina This Sunday

There is lots of free fun in store down at the San Leandro Marina this weekend as volleyball enthusiasts gather to play and improve their skills. Go join them or check out the action from the sidelines. Either way, the weather is predicted to cooperate.

The Marina Park Volleyball Meet-Up Group has announced it will be playing volleyball from noon until dark this Sunday, February 12 at the .

The organizers will have two sand courts and will set-up up as many grass courts as needed.  Participants are invited to come before the event starts to set-up or practice.  

If you are new, when you arrive you should ask to speak with the group's members Kim, Brian, or Nick.  They will provide you with information about how to get started.

There will also be a one hour Beginner Level Fundamental Skill's Clinic for children and adult beginners. Covered in the clinic will be passing, positioning and serving fundamentals with an emphasis on underhand serving. This clinic begins at 2 p.m. sharp. You must be there on time or you will not be able to participate. 

There will be beginner level court play after the clinic from 3 p.m. until sunset.

Meet-up group members Kim, Nick, and Steve will run the Passing and Serving Skill's Clinic for children and beginner level adults.  Kim has been the assistant coach for the group since it was formed. Parents of the children attending are also welcome to participate or assist in the drills.  All of the instructional clinics will be free. 

To participate in the clinic you are asked to RSVP at the group's meet-up website here.  If you are signing up for the clinic, organizers ask that you write "clinic" in the RSVP notes section and indicate the number of adults and/or children who will be taking part in the clinic.  

After the day's games the meet-up group generally goes out for food somewhere nearby. 

The Marina Park Volleyball Meet-Up Group was formed in July 2010. It welcomes players of all levels. While many of its games are played in San Leandro, some more advanced games are also held elsewhere around the region.
