SAN LEANDRO, CA — An X-ray technician is suspected of inappropriately touching a patient last year at San Leandro Hospital, and police say there may be other victims.

Under the guise of a physical examination, the suspect allegedly touched the female victim inappropriately after she had X-rays taken in September 2022, the San Leandro Police Department said Thursday.

The department's special victims unit worked alongside the hospital's internal investigation, developing evidence to arrest Dung Tu, 46, of Castro Valley.

The suspect was taken into custody on Oct. 4 and charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office with sexual battery by fraud.

"Due to the nature of the alleged acts and the manner by which they were committed, detectives believe there may be other possible victims within at least the past few years," police said in a news release.
