The 21st Huading Award Shines : Gibson Swank Stallone Portman Howard Paul Piven and Brandy Attended The Star-Studded Ceremony

The 21st Huading Award brought out the stars to Hollywood and unfortunately, the rain as well.

However, according to the Chinese, rain is a symbol of good luck. The winners of The Huading Award certainly received a bit of this luck at The Theatre Ace Hotel. The frenzy that comes along with any red carpet was intensified with the rain while people entered.

Mel Gibson, Hilary Swank, Sylvester Stallone, Natalie Portman, Bryce Dallas Howard, Aaron Paul, Jeremy Piven, and Brandy attended the star-studded event last Thursday, December 15, 2016.
The Huading Award is also known as the Folk Award or "The Choice of 1.3 Billion Chinese People" and represents the international influence of Chinese entertainment industries. It was first introduced in 2014 at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood. The 21st Hauding Award Global Film Festival has matured into an international award winning show. The show was produced by Dragon TV from China. “The Hauding Awards signifies the increasingly close connection between the world’s largest and second largest film markets.” Hollywood Reporter.

Past participants included Halle Berry, Orlando Bloom, Charles Matthew Hunnam, Guillermo del Toro, Hans Zimmer, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Renner, Michael Bolton, Nicole Kidman, Nicolas Cage, Avril Lavigne, Quentin Tarantino, Adrien Brody, Jean-Jacques Annaud, Yimou Zhang, Ziyi Zhang, Andy Lau, Jackie Chan, Bingbing Fan, Xiaogang Feng, Wei Zhao, Eason Chan, Nicholas Tse, Nick Cheung, Angelababy, Xun Zhou, Bo Huang, & Donnie Yen.

The 2015 Awards recipients are:
Best Global Picture – The Martian
Best Global Screenplay – Drew Goddard; Andy Weir “The Martian”
Best Global Actress in Leading Role – Bryce Dallas Howard
Best Global Action Choreography – Fast & Furious
Lifetime Achievement Award – Sylvester Stallone
Hauding Global Critics Awards – Mel Gibson & Hilary Swank

Although I was involved with ground control when organizing the event, walking down the red carpet in the heavy rain was not included in the job description. But as a first generation Chinese-American who came to the U.S. over 40 years ago, this was an emotional moment to be a part of - we've come a long way from The Flower Drum Song Film in the 60's!
