Event: Open House at the Michael White Adobe

SAN MARINO, CA: The Friends of the Michael White Adobe are pleased to announce that an open house will be held at the adobe on Oct. 28 from 6-10 p.m. This is the only the second time that the Michael White Adobe has been open to the public since the late 1990s and is expected to attract visitors from the Los Angeles Heritage Alliance, descendents of Michael White as well as alumni and current students, most of whom have never seen the inside of San Marino’s oldest residence.

The Michael White Adobe was built c. 1845 (possibly earlier) and belonged to Michael White, also known as Miguel Blanco. Born an Englishman, he apprenticed to a whaler at the age of 14 and never went home again. He became an early pioneer of California; married a daughter of the formidable Doña Eulalia Perez, majordoma of Mission San Gabriel; and lived a life of adventure - as various as being King Kamehameha IIIs tax collector; a smuggler; a prospector in the California Gold Rush; and a trader on the Rowland-Workman Immigrant Party of 1841.
