Joanne Asman to speak at USC Trojan Affiliates on 10-4-18

"The History of Traveler".

JOANNE ASMAN TO SPEAK AT TROJAN AFFILIATES MEETING ON THE HISTORY OF TRAVELER

USC Trojan Affiliates, a philanthropic and social women’s group, of the University of Southern California invites alumni, parents, and friends to attend their upcoming meeting on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Mijares Restaurant, 145 Palmetto Drive, Pasadena. Social reception begins at 6:00 p.m. with the dinner at 7:00 p.m. followed by the program, and meeting. The evening will feature Joanne Asman, owner of Asman & Associates, speaking on “The History of Traveler”.

After spending many years working full time in the Medical field and working with her horses part time, Joanne Asman turned her hobby into a profession. Over the past forty years, she has been lucky to own, ride and train many of her own horses, including showing and parading in the Pasadena Tournament of the Roses fourteen times. The past twenty-five years have been spent providing and managing equestrian and animal performers and events.

As owner of Asman & Associates, LLC, an entertainment (providing animal performers) and event planning company based in Burbank, CA, she has supplied animals for three NFL Media Super Bowl Parties (also including musicians, bands, and dancers), many Print Ads including for Playboy, Vogue, Entertainment Weekly, and In Style, album covers for Stevie Nicks, Kathryn McPhee, and others. Her horses have appeared in ads for Estee Lauder, Ralph Lauren, Sean John Clothing and more, and photographers love to shoot the animals she supplies Celebrities riding her horses include Stephanie Powers, LeeAnn Rimes, Fabio, and Salma Hayek.

Joanne has produced charitable equestrian events such as the annual “Fiesta of the Spanish Horse”, “Festival of the Animals”, the “Burbank Celebrity Tournament of Horses” equestrian show, and a wild west variety equestrian and art show for the “Celebration of Life” Fundraiser.

As the Event Coordinator and Public Relations Chairman for the Rafael Soto Clinic, she featured the Olympic and World Equestrian Game Rider from Spain. Other accomplishments include coordinating and furnishing entertainment for numerous other events including the Super Bowl, Western States Horse Expo, “The Nutcracker,” and, for ten years, coordination of the Equestrian Program at the annual Renaissance Pleasure Faire.

In 2002, Joanne was contacted by USC regarding taking over the Traveler program. Pat Saukko DiBernardi and her son Chuck O’Donnell, the former owners of Traveler, knew her through their horses and felt confident that she was the one to step into their shoes.

Ann Proctor, serving in her second term as Trojan Affiliates president, encourages the community to attend the October meeting to become acquainted with the members of Trojan Affiliates. The members meet five times a year in the San Gabriel Valley and are educated by various USC professors and other well versed and interesting speakers. Members also donate their time to raise greatly needed funds for scholarships for worthy USC students. The organization awarded ten scholarships for the 2018-20189 academic school year. Volunteer opportunities include selling USC products, volunteering at the Pasadena Showcase House, USC Day of Service, and more. Of course, the members also participate in a variety of social and cultural events and interface in numerous capacities with the University.

The formal purpose of this alumnae organization is to foster a spirit of friendship, loyalty, and cooperation with the University of Southern California, to develop and sustain a successful fundraising project in order to provide scholarships for USC students and contribute to the advancement of education.
