San Marino Unified Names Dr. Jeff Wilson Lone Finalist for Superintendent
SAN MARINO- After a lengthy process of gathering stakeholder input, a nation-wide search which included the review of over 40 applicants, and a comprehensive interview process of the top applicants, the San Marino Unified School District Board of Education is pleased to announce Dr. Jeff Wilson as the lone finalist for Superintendent of the San Marino Unified School District.
Dr. Wilson has served as a San Gabriel Valley educator for over 25 years with passion and integrity in numerous roles as both a teacher and administrator. He began his career as a teacher in Pasadena before working in the hospitality industry in Maui, Hawaii. Returning to Southern California with his family in 1998, Dr. Wilson joined the Covina-Valley Unified School District where he spent a decade as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at Traweek Middle School. In 2008, Dr. Wilson was recruited to join the Arcadia Unified School District, first as Principal at First Avenue Middle School and then he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, where he has effectively served since 2014. In each of these roles, he has demonstrated compassion, dedication, and a commitment to students, families, staff, and the community.

With a passion for collaboration and working with others, Dr. Wilson is driven to constantly improve relationships and bring people together to improve the lives of students. He admires and respects the people with whom he works, is a lifelong learner, and embraces challenges that improve the organization. Dr. Wilson was born and raised in Glendora, California, where he graduated from Glendora High School. Prior to completing his Ed.D. at Azusa Pacific University, Dr. Wilson earned his BS degree in Accounting from Cal State Fullerton, an MDiv from Biola University, and an MS from CSUF in Educational Leadership.

“Based on community input received and our collective experience in understanding the needs of San Marino Unified, the Board looked for an administrator who not only is experienced in providing exceptional educational services but who also is personable, collaborative and a positive and visionary instructional leader. Dr. Wilson brings all of those qualities in addition to his vast experience in a similar school district with high achieving students and high educational aspirations. Pending approval, the Board is very excited to start a new chapter with Dr. Jeff Wilson as San Marino Unified School District’s fourteenth superintendent since 1918,” said Ms.
Link. Dr. Wilson looks forward to working with the Board of Education, parents, staff, students, and the San Marino community on a shared vision of providing the very best educational experiences for all students. “Working essentially next door in Arcadia all of these years, I’ve paid close attention to and have greatly admired the students and staff of San Marino. They are truly doing impressive work. I can’t wait to start working with them now and learning from them about how we can work together to continue to offer a premier education to our students,” said Dr. Wilson. The Board of Education will officially vote on the position at its May 14 meeting. Pending approval, Dr. Wilson will begin his role as Superintendent on July 1, 2019.
