SAN MATEO, CA — A 17-year-old San Mateo boy was arrested Tuesday afternoon on felony DUI and hit-and-run charges after a series of crashes in a residential neighborhood left a teen passenger with injuries, police said.
Officers were dispatched around 2:46 p.m. to the area of Shoreview Avenue and Kehoe Avenue following reports of reckless driving and a hit-and-run involving a tan Chevrolet pickup truck. When officers arrived, they found multiple hit-and-run incidents had occurred in the area before locating the suspect and the truck in the 900 block of Norton Street.
The teen was found intoxicated and uncooperative with investigators. A teen girl who had been riding in the truck sustained minor injuries during the incident and was released to a parent at the scene.
Officers said they obtained a blood draw warrant, and after medical clearance the suspect was released to the custody of a guardian. He faces felony charges of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and hit-and-run resulting in injury.
