SAN MATEO, CA — A San Mateo couple drowned last week at a popular waterfall in Kings Canyon National Park, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said.
Dharti Patel, 29, and Parth Patel, 30, died on May 25 while visiting Roaring River Falls, police said. The couple was from San Mateo.
The National Park Service advises against swimming at the falls, warning that slippery rocks and powerful currents can easily drag you under.
Drowning is among the most common causes of death in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, officials said.
