SAN MATEO, CA — A San Mateo roadway reopened early Thursday after a vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant and flooded the surrounding area, police said.
Flooding was reported around 5:25 a.m. near 42nd Avenue and South El Camino Real, according to the San Mateo Police Department.
The flooding forced police to close westbound 42nd Avenue from Pacific Boulevard and urge drivers traveling through the Laurie Meadows area to find alternate routes.
Just before 6:30 a.m., police announced that 42nd Avenue and South El Camino Real were fully open to motorists.
No further details about the crash were immediately available.
