SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo County residents will soon have a new place to apply for public benefits and other assistance as the county prepares to open a Human Services Agency location at Fashion Island.
The facility at 1500 Fashion Island Blvd. in San Mateo will bring together 354 employees from the agency's Employment Services, Economic Self-Sufficiency and Children and Family Services divisions, according to the county.
Residents will be able to apply for CalFresh food benefits, Medi-Cal health coverage, CalWORKs, employment services and other assistance at the location.
The county planned to celebrate the facility's opening Thursday.
The opening will also mark the completion of a multiyear effort to move Human Services Agency operations out of leased spaces and into county-owned buildings.
County officials said consolidating the services at Fashion Island was intended to make it easier to connect residents with programs supporting financial stability, health and self-sufficiency.
