Driver Charged After Passenger Dies In SMC DUI Crash: DA

A San Francisco man faces vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges after his passenger was killed in a crash, prosecutors said.

SAN BRUNO, CA — A 29-year-old San Francisco man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance after a crash in San Bruno killed his passenger, the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office said Thursday.

Briand Dominguez Torres was driving on El Camino Real shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday with 22-year-old passenger Eric Perez Ramos when the car struck a roadside pole, prosecutors said.

Ramos died in the crash. Torres was arrested following the collision, authorities said.

Prosecutors claimed Torres was driving under the influence at the time of the crash.

He also faces a charge related to possession of a controlled substance, police said.
