• California Lawmakers Pledge Solution for VLF Shortfall (californiacitynews.org) — San Mateo County and its 20 cities are facing a growing Vehicle License Fee funding shortfall now estimated at $226 million, with San Bruno alone potentially losing up to $5.6 million. State lawmakers have added language to AB 184 promising a long-term fix, but county leaders are pressing Governor Newsom for a concrete budget solution by 2027 to protect local services and jobs.

Created by Northeastern University faculty and students, the hands-on puzzle walked players through decoding genetic sequences and showed how bioinformatics powers local biotech work from cancer research to drug discovery.
