SAN MATEO, CA — A 17-year-old San Mateo boy was arrested Friday night for allegedly possessing a loaded firearm without a serial number.
San Mateo police officers pulled over a vehicle at East Fourth Avenue and Railroad Avenue at about 9:20 p.m. for an alleged lighting violation.
The vehicle was searched after officers allegedly smelled and saw marijuana, according to a statement from the San Mateo Police Department.
A loaded handgun without a serial number that police described as "Glock-style" was allegedly found in the vehicle, along with over an ounce of marijuana.
The driver was booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall on multiple allegations, including being a minor in possession of a handgun, and carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, police said.
