Man Killed In Rollover Crash On Highway 101 Identified

The solo-vehicle crash happened early Sunday morning on northbound Highway 101, north of Smith Ranch Road in San Rafael.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Authorities have identified the man killed early Sunday morning in a rollover crash on Highway 101 in Marin County.

Daejon Tyree Crowder, 27, of Olivehurst, California, was apparently speeding around 3:40 a.m. on northbound Highway 101, north of Smith Ranch Road in San Rafael, when he crashed off the roadway, went up an embankment, hit a light pole and rolled over, according to the California Highway Patrol and Marin County Sheriff's Office-Coroner Division. He and a passenger, who were not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the Ford Expedition.

Crowder was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The female passenger was taken to a hospital with major injuries. She has not been identified.

The official cause and manner of Crowder's death were pending a post-mortem exam, toxicology results and the conclusion of the investigation by the CHP and Sheriff's Office-Coroner Division.
