Youth Town Hall Offers Students Direct Line To Local Leaders In Marin County

Young people ages 12–25 can participate in an open conversation with mayors and council members to shape community decisions.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County students are invited to speak directly with local elected officials at the 4th Annual Marin Youth Town Hall on April 26.

“Being part of the Youth Town Hall showed me that local government isn’t something far away — it’s something we can actually be part of,” said Sophia Lopez, a Student Elections Ambassador.

The student-led event provides an informal, accessible forum for young people ages 12–25 to ask questions, share their perspectives, and engage in an open conversation with mayors, vice mayors, and council members from 2-4 p.m. on April 26 at the Marin County Civic Center.

The goal is to help students understand local decision-making and how they can participate in shaping their communities.

“[The Youth Town Hall] creates a space where students can connect directly with local leaders and see that what they say can have a real impact,” said Elizabeth Iwamiya, coordinator of the Student Elections Ambassador Program.

Registration is open online for the free event, which will be held in the Board of Supervisors chamber in Suite 330 at the Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Dr., San Rafael. Refreshments will be provided.

The Town Hall is organized by students in the Student Elections Ambassador Program, a youth-led civic engagement initiative. SEAP students work to build a culture of civic participation among young people, including registering thousands of new and future voters.
