SAN RAFAEL, CA — Youth in Arts opened its annual Here and Queer: LGBTQIA+ Pride Month Spotlight Show early in June at the YIA Gallery in downtown San Rafael.
The exhibition, now in its third year, features artwork and creative writing by young LGBTQIA+ artists from throughout Marin County and remains on display through July 3.
A public opening reception was held at the gallery, located at 917 C St.
"The Here and Queer show is one of the most meaningful exhibitions we host each year," said Roberta Catalinotto, executive director of Youth in Arts. "Art has always been a vehicle for truth, and these young LGBTQIA+ artists are using it to say: we are here, we matter, and our stories deserve to be seen."
According to Youth in Arts, the exhibition provides a platform for students to share their experiences and celebrate queer identity through creative expression.
Admission is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Youth in Arts has provided arts education programs throughout Marin County since 1970.
