Fire Headquarters, Paramedic Tax And Affordable Housing Will Be Discussed By Marin Supervisors

The board's agenda includes financing for a proposed parcel tax election, a new county fire headquarters and the Oak Hill apartments.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Affordable housing, emergency medical services and public safety projects are among the major issues before the Marin County Board of Supervisors when it meets Tuesday.

Supervisors will consider placing a four-year special parcel tax measure on the Nov. 3 ballot to continue funding the Ross Valley Paramedic Authority through 2031. The measure would affect residents in Corte Madera, Larkspur, Ross, San Anselmo, Fairfax, Sleepy Hollow, Kentfield and Greenbrae.

Another major item on the agenda is a proposed $3.09 million contract for the design phase of a new Marin County Fire headquarters in the San Geronimo Valley. The proposal includes a 10% contingency, bringing the total Phase 1 authorization to about $3.4 million.

One of the board's biggest decisions will be whether to approve up to $41 million in bond financing for the affordable housing portion of the Oak Hill Apartments project near Larkspur. The financing would help pay for 115 below-market-rate apartments being developed by Eden Housing as part of the larger 250-unit mixed-income community planned on an 8.5-acre site along East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

The public hearing is required before the California Municipal Finance Authority can issue the revenue bonds. If approved, the proceeds would be used to help finance construction of the affordable housing complex.

The meeting will be held at the Marin County Civic Center and streamed live online.
