Officers arrived in the area of 3rd and Harrison streets around 11:12 that night and found a man on the ground who'd been shot several times, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The man was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, police said. The victim's name was not released by police.

In the months that followed, investigators served warrants associated with the suspects, including on Thursday, when they searched homes in San Rafael and Richmond, police said.

There, investigators found evidence related to the shooting, including illegal firearms and ammunition, police said.

On Monday, police said they had arrested Maldonado-Alvarez in San Rafael on suspicion of murder and Depaz-Maldonado in Oakland on suspicion of assault with a semi-automatic firearm.

They're also accused of carrying a concealed firearm in public, police said.
