MARIN COUNTY, CA — A galaxy far, far away is coming to Marin County next summer as the Marin County Fair celebrates the 50th anniversary of "Star Wars" with a five-day tribute to the film franchise's local roots.
Galaxy Passes, which provide discounted admission for all five days, go on sale Nov. 27 for $85.
Single-day tickets will become available May 4, 2027, also known as Star Wars Day.
The 2027 fair, running July 1-5, will feature screenings of the original trilogy, Star Wars-themed competitions, special exhibits and appearances by costumed characters from across the galaxy.
The theme, "Celebrating 50 Years of a Galaxy Far, Far Away," recognizes the franchise's connection to Marin County, where George Lucas and generations of artists, designers and filmmakers helped bring the films to life.
"We're thrilled to bring the galaxy far, far away to the Marin County Fair in 2027 as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Wars," said Lynwen Brennan, Lucasfilm co-president.
The fair's competitive exhibits will offer special awards for Star Wars-inspired entries across adult and junior categories, including fine art, baking, quilting and crafts. Organizers are encouraging residents to create their own themed entries, from Millennium Falcon cakes to character-inspired artwork.
The original trilogy — "Star Wars: A New Hope" (1977), "The Empire Strikes Back" (1980) and "Return of the Jedi" (1983) — will screen daily at the Veterans' Memorial Auditorium.
The screenings are included with fair admission. The auditorium is scheduled to reopen in January 2027.
Costumed characters from the Galactic Creations Initiative will also make expanded appearances throughout the fairgrounds.
