Adorable Dachshund Reigning Champion of San Ramon Oktoberfest “Doxie” Races
Jelli, the 2015 champion, is one of the oldest dachshunds to compete in the Bay Area.
SAN RAMON, CA — An adorable Livermore dog is once again the champion of the annual San Ramon Oktoberfest “Doxie” races. The 2016 competition was fierce but 11-year-old Jelli, a tiny dachshund, is a seasoned professional and was last year’s champion, according to her owner.
Wearing her Warriors jersey, Jelli beat out the competition to defend her title during the Saturday festival, which was held at the Forest Home Farms Historic Park in San Ramon. Petco donated treats to all of the competing dogs.
Livermore resident Rick Bon said Jelli, who is one of the oldest dachshunds to compete in the Bay Area, has a long history of racing.

“She has been racing at wiener dog races since 2006,” Bon said. “She was the Oktoberfest 2015 and 2016 champion in San Ramon. She has also raced at some Raider game halftime shows and monster truck shows at Levi Stadium and Oracle.”
