Alamo Homeowners Alerted to Fire by Home Security System

San Ramon Valley Firefighters responded to a 2nd alarm structure fire in Alamo, this morning, December 19, 2014, at 7:49 a.m.

Crews from Station 32 were first on scene and arrived to find smoke showing from the home. Firefighters were able to have the fire extinguished in less than 20 minutes. The fire started in the kitchen.

There was no one home at the time of the fire. The homeowners were alerted to the fire by a home security system and contacted a neighbor who then called 9-1-1. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District reminds residents to have working smoke alarms installed in all bedrooms, outside all sleeping areas and on every level of your home. Test your smoke alarms once a month and change the batteries at least once a year.

When leaving your home for any extended period of time, remember to close bedroom doors and or hallway doors to limit the spread of fire should one occur while you are away.
