SAN RAMON, CA — The San Ramon FC men's football team could qualify for the U.S. Open Cup for the second year in a row.
The team will play in the championship match against the Napa Valley 1839 FC on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Tiffany Roberts Field in San Ramon in The League for Clubs' NorCal Fall Cup. The two teams also met in last year's championship, where San Ramon won 4-0.
San Ramon advanced to this year's final with a 4-1 semifinal victory over CV Fuego's under-23 team on Oct. 24. On Nov. 21, they will host Bellevue Athletic FC of Washington in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
The winner will earn a berth in the national tournament, which gives amateur clubs the opportunity to compete against professional teams. San Ramon qualified for the cup for the first time in its more than 50-year history last year when it defeated San Francisco's Olympic Club 2-1.
