Golden Skate Hockey League Playoffs

Golden Skate in San Ramon hosted the first round of the spring Roller Hockey League Playoffs tonight, and each of the Junior level games was exciting, hard fought and fun.

In Game 1, the #1 seed Wild faced off against the #4 seed Cobras and were looking good with a 2 goal lead as the 3rd period wound down, but the Cobras put on the pressure and tied the game with less than a minute remaining so it went to a Shootout.

A shootout is initially 3 rounds for each team, but the goalies were awesome not letting any pucks past them and it remained tied so we went to a 4th round..nothing, and then a 5th round and it happened.  The Cobras scored the only shootout goal to complete their comeback and advance to the Championship game. But who will they be playing?

Game 2 pitted the Sharks vs. the Aces, #2 seed vs. #3.  The Sharks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but by the end of the 1st period it was tied.  The Sharks actually gave up the lead and were down 4-3 at one point, but they kept up the pressure and prevailed 6-5 in regulation to earn their spot against the Cobras in the Championship game at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 5 at Golden Skate.  The public is welcome to come see the game free of charge.

Congratulations to all the players on a great season, and good luck to the Sharks and Cobras!
